Don't get me wrong, I love really good music... yes, classical is part of that... I own a CD of Mozart and Wagner (yes, you pronounce it "Vagner"... don't ask...). But here's my biggest pet peeve... not everything is to be performed in that style. I speak specifically of singing. I admire greatly people who can sing opera and operettas at the drop of a hat and hit high A's or E's (notes above the staff...) like they're handing out candy at Halloween. But PLEASE for crying out loud do not sing a song like Seasons of Love from the musical Rent like that!! It's just wrong!! And yet people do that to other musical theatre songs, too... so that it's no wonder that people think Poor Jud is Daid from Oklahoma! is a foreign language piece!! Mostly 'cause most classical singers can't sing like their singing English to begin with, but that's another gripe... It's no wonder that most actors HATE voice lessons... they get forced into singing in this unreal way when what they need to be learning is how to sound natural when they sing. They need to be perfecting their musical skills and abilities like all voice students, but the difference is in how they are taught to use that. If I ever go back to taking voice lessons, it will be with the understanding that I AM NOT a classical voice student nor do I EVER want to be.

And let me rant for a second, too, about people who are stupid and don't tell you stuff. I hate it when people don't tell me stuff that, if they're perfectly honest, I need to know. It drives me insane to find out stuff from a third party that I should have heard from the first to begin with. What? Are you that spineless or stupid? Or am I really asking to much to be able to do my "job" for the moment without hitches like missing information? Or maybe it's that you think I can't handle it? News flash people: I'm 28 years old and have been through more than you know!! Just ask me!! I can handle it, really...

Anywhoo, as Jon would say... that's enough for now, more later...

Sheesh louise... I have at least two friends of mine from "way back when" who's blogs I haven't added to my sidebar. Dusti and Mae Anne...

Dusti is a friend of mine from way back in high school... maybe junior high? But I think it's just high school?! I find her to be a talented and educated and thought-provoking person. I can say that she's talented because she and I went to school at a magnet school at a time when the arts components there could boast some highly talented people. I can say that she's educated because she was in my Current Events class and I saw proof of it then!! She and Tanya both!! Plus, she's the mother of three for crying out loud. And if you just read her blog you'll understand why I also find her thought-provoking...

Mae Anne and I weren't "best friends" or anything, but we were in the same social club at Faulkner. She's a very sweet girl that I'm glad to know!! BTW, she's pregnant!!! I am now officially iving up on keeping up with how many women I know that are due in the next year!!!

I have other friends that I've run across online through blogs... but they don't blog... so oh well...

Okay, so I DO have a favorite radio program. I've loved it since I was first introduced to it and highly recommend it. Garrison Keillor has a program he does called the Prairie Home Companion. I haven't researched it yet, but I think I may; it used to come on NPR on Saturday nights around 5:00 or 6:00. Basically it was on the radio when we left my Dad's softball games and were going to some friends for dinner. I loved it. It was radio from it's "hey-dey". He has a set of books, but there's no way that can compare to the show. Not only is it like comparing the script of a play to a production of it, it's also not the same kind of stories and serials and commercials. I REALLY recommend it to anyone "out there in radio land" on Saturday nights!!

Well, a friend from church's mother passed away in her sleep the other night. Ed is a really great guy and is a true testament to the kind of people his parents are. He's Marine Corps so he's a generally strong person and I know he'll do what he can to be there for his family... but I know prayers for all of them are greatly appreciated since this was so sudden. Check out his blog on the list to the right for more "stuff" on him, etc...

Sheesh louise... all the people around me that are pregnant!!! I am so glad that I'm not married or I'd probably be SOO SCARED I was about to be pregnant!! I'm not going to say more 'cause I don't know who all to say anything to about it... "who should know" type stuff... We'll just say that I am going to, by default, be working on 4 baby showers at the office over 2005. Let's just say that everyone's going to know my punch recipe very well!! Fortunately it's good stuff!! And adaptable!!

"Other than that Mrs. Lincoln..." life is good. I still want to go to grad school... I still want to be making more money... I still want my own place... I still want a CR-V. But I know I'm just going to have to be patient and all that will come in due time... IF it's God's will!!

anywhoo... to all my friends not in Montgomery: I miss you, write soon!!... to all my friends IN Montgomery: drop me a line or give me a call sometime!!

Sheesh... I'm not doing as well as I hoped about posting?! At least not too recently... Oh well... at least I am posting?

I had a great holiday!! Christmas break (the week before per the University) was nice. I got theses written on Thelma (Greenwood), Myrtle Webb, Narrator/ Maryanne Rowen (most of it). And I got a Power Point on customer service done, too... it may get shared with my department, since it's all business related stuff. I've still got to finish up the thesis on Maryanne and then still have Milly Bailey to do. Plus I still have to go back and add some stuff and do some editing. Maybe that can get done in the next few nights as I get the chance to lounge and watch some television... since I DON'T HAVE REHEARSAL OR LINES TO LEARN!!! Can you tell I'm a little excited about the break I'm taking? (I'm also not singing on a worship team, so I get to enjoy classes now!!) I also LOVED getting to spend Christmas with ALL my family. Momma, Daddy, me, Baron, Laura, Mark, and Lindsey all drove over to Americus Christmas morning and spent it with Grandmama, Uncle Keith, Aunt Becky, Russ, and Grace.

Thoughts on Christmas: Even though I got not one but two fabulous DVDs from my dad, a great new jacket and gloves and the BEST blanket from my grandmother, a $35 gift card to BAM from my Aunt and Uncle, a great scarf and fabulous jewelry and new fuzzy slipper-socks from Cliff and Dodd... I still remember somthing I heard this year. I think it was Brad in his sermon the Sunday before Christmas. It rang just so true and profound to me. He brought up the fuss that people make over Christmas being celebrated as Jesus' birthday... yada yada yada... you know the bit. He did bring up this point though... would you rather someone just not celebrate the fact that you were born (your birthday) or just pick a day if they don't know? Do you think it matters THAT much to him which day it's on or don't you think that what's important is that we CELEBRATE it and not ignore it. Here's my big thought though that just meant lots to me for some reason... Children are asked LOTS if they got everything they wanted for Christmas or if Santa Clause was good to them. Well, one little girl (or boy?) pretty much put us all to shame and everything into perspective with her answer... "No, but then again, it's not my birthday." Matt. 18:2-4 (2He called a little child and had him stand among them. 3And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.) Sometimes I'm amazed at what kids get that we don't and the sheer unadulterated love they show.

New Year's Eve was lots of fun, too. I spent it at Cliff and Dodd's house with some friends. We had a murder mystery dinner party. It was neat to sort of dress up and play around for a while. We got through with it all just in time to "ring in the New Year"!!

Welp... I've written enough for now... feel free to drop me a line and let me know how your holidays were!! I'd love to hear from you... BabyJ20@gmail.com...
